Construction for the University had begun as early as 1965. The University consists of eight undergraduate colleges and one postgraduate college. The main faculties available at the University are the Arts and Social Sciences, Management, Science and Technology, and Lifelong Learning and Widening Participation. There are nearly 70 departments, institutes and centers under these four faculties.
