Course description:

Foundation degrees are a relatively new qualification for those who are looking for a practical based qualification, or those who are already in the workplace or planning a career change. This course is available over two years (full-time).The Visual Communication course is broad and exciting, incorporating both illustration and graphic design. It is all about solving communication problems through a variety of media. You will explore typographic methods, print and screen based media, web design, animation and illustration. The first part of the course will provide you with basic skills in all of these areas. Students are then increasingly exposed to professional-standard briefs and projects in a way designed to provide an authentic experience of working in these fields. In this way you will encounter the sorts of real problems tackled by practicing designers in industry; a valuable insight into the working world. Students on this course represent a dynamic mix of professional and educational backgrounds and we expect a wide variety of people to apply. You may be already in industry wanting to expand your skills or you may be looking to perfect your skills and portfolio before progressing to a degree course.
